Perfect for easy fast poached eggs. We spray a little nonstick or add a little oil to the pan first to prevent any sticking- works like a charm. Only downside is they have a little screw under the pan holding the handle on... This will get rusty if not cleaned and dry promptly.I love this little egg poacher!! It’s really easy to use, just follow the instructions. Makes it so much easier to make poached eggs without all the mess and totally great for meal prepping your breakfast!!! I use a small plastic spatula to take the eggs out so that I won’t scratch it and them come out clean!Basically, I like the product. However, the stay cool knob doesn't stay cool. It requires a glove of tongs to keep from burning your hand. Thus, I think the advertising is off on this issue.I love the ease of this product!I’m just needing to use a little more spray, coconut oil or butter than I expected to, and soaking the pan before washing, but it’s still easy made poached eggs!Thank you! There's really only one way to poach eggs to "restaurant quality," and that's the immersion method. The only reason many people shy away from that is because of the "feathering", which makes the eggs less attractive when you remove them from the water. Chefs actually trim off some of that before placing it on the toast and serving it to you.The whole purpose of an egg poaching pan like this is ease of use and convenience. But there is a trade-off: the egg cooks somewhat unevenly (from the outside in), and even the most expensive pans stick. Another reviewer advised how to minimize the sticking, and I'll reiterate it here.(In every case, of course you'll need to lube the cups just as you would any other pan -- butter, spray, oil of your choice, etc.)Add water to the holding pan, crack your eggs into the cups, and place the poacher in the pan. Lid it up, raise the heat to medium (never higher than that), and make sure the water never goes above just the gentlest simmer. Set the timer to your desired doneness, and that's it.When frying just about anything from vegetables to beef, the one cardinal rule to keep food from sticking is, hot pan first. Food at room temperature, not fresh out of the refrigerator. Food in hot pan, no sticking. When you add food to a cold pan and then raise the heat, that's when you have problems. So the other method would be: place the poacher in a holding pan with half an inch or so of water, raise the heat, on with the lid, let it come to just below a simmer. Lid off, crack the eggs into the cups, lid on, HEAT OFF, set timer, and let the steam do the work from there. This pan seems to have an enameled surface which is in fact quite slick. It's certainly not PTFE (Teflon). But it's the nature of the cooking method that eggs *will stick* if you don't follow certain rules. You have to be gentle. When you fry an egg in a pan, you have the benefit of moving the eggs around a bit as they solidify. That's not possible when using a device like this, so different rules apply.Overall, I find it to be well worth the price.Love itI ordered this after too many disappointments trying to poach an egg like a French chef. This insert works perfectly. I heat the poacher in a shallow pan of boiling water, turn the heat to simmer, slip a sliver of butter into the depressions before the eggs & use a glass cover over the pan to steam the the top of the eggs. Lift out the insert & slide perfect eggs onto my toast. Easy & quick. The insert wipes clean or can go in the dishwasher & seems to be sturdy.Maybe not how the professional chefs do a poached egg, but have found this to be pretty fool proof. Easy to use and washExactly what I needed.Works great! Makes poaching eggs so simple and really fast. Watch that you don't overcook the eggs like I did the first time. Really like this product and highly recommend it for the traditional poaching egg challenged.
