After the typical blow dryer to speed defrost on the original, we eventually melted the ice maker to where ice would get stuck and build up. That added to the original problem of it frosting over. Tried the silicone on the edges trick and made sure the Y clips were in place. Still no luck. Eventually saw that you can use insulation tape on the inner seams of the ice maker so we tried that and replaced the warped melted ice maker with this one. It was just ever so slightly different looking in the sense that the box of it in the front was about an inch shorter. Wasn't sure it was a direct replacement. But swapped it out, it fit. Anxiously awaited the first ice. it came and now it makes ice like clockwork about every hour it seems like. This ice maker in conjunction with the insulation tape on the inner seams, seems good so far. No Ice build up and the ice maker functions as it should. It has been a few weeks and so far so good!
