I got this mostly to keep the mattress in my RV from sliding sideways when my wife leans back against the bed to view herself in the wall mirror. It helped but did not solve that problem. However, it has worked really well in other applications including:1) Keeping a foam drawer liner mat from moving on the corion counter top (it's the cat's landing spot when he mumps down from the top of some nearby capbinets.2) Keeping some folded fleece blankets on a slick shelf in the RV.3) Keeping a coffee grinding machine from sliding rearward on the counter when the grounds cup is inserted.4) Gripping the knob on a hot water dispenser with 80+ year-old hands.5) And the biggest use; opening jars. One disk on the counter top and one on the lid. I have cut four disk sizes for this job from 3" to 8". Using too large of a disk on the smaller lid tends to grip the jar as well so size is important. The added grip provided is a huge blessing for us 80+ year-olds. I have made multiple sets of jar openers for the wife's friends.
